一般現在時與現在進行時
一般現在時和現在進行時是初一階段所學的兩種重要時態，現從以下三個方面對其進行對比，以便更好的掌握它們的用法。
一、基本用法
一般現在時一般用來表示人或物經常性或習慣性的動作或狀態，也可以用來表示人或物現在的狀態或者用來表示主語現在具有的性格或能力等。現在進行時則一般用來表示現在（說話的瞬間 ） 正在發生或進行的動作或者用來表示現階段正在進行或發生的動作。如：
she goes to school by bike every day.
她每天騎自行車去上學。（經常性的動作）
he can speak a little chinese.
他會說點兒漢語。（主語現在具有的能力）
they are watching tv now.
現在他們正在看電視。（正在進行的動作）
we are working on the farm these days.
這幾天我們一直在農場勞動。（現階段發生的動作）
二、謂語動詞的形式
一般現在時的謂語動詞為：
1.be動詞用am / is / are這三種形式；
2.實義動詞用動詞原形或第三人稱單數形式。
現在進行時謂語動詞的形式為：be（am，is，are）+ 實義動詞的 -ing 形式。
這兩種時態的否定句和一般疑問句的變法也不同：
在一般現在時中，含be動詞的句子變否定句直接在be（am、is、are）後加not，變一般疑問句是直接將be（am、is、are）提到句首；含實義動詞的句子變否定句和一般疑問句必須藉助於助動詞do 或does.而現在進行時的句子變否定句則直接在be（am、is、are）後面加 not；變一般疑問句是把 be（am、is、are）提到句首。如：
she doesn』t go to school by bike. she goes to school by bus.
她不是騎自行車去上學，而是乘公共汽車去上學。
she isn』t doing her homework now. she is watching tv.
現在她沒做家庭作業，她在看電視。
-do they often play football？ 他們經常踢足球嗎？
-yes，they do. （ no，they don』t.） 是的，他們經常踢。（不，他們不經常踢。）
-are they playing football now？ 現在他們正在踢足球嗎？
-yes，they are. （no，they aren』t.） 是的，他們正在踢。（不，他們沒踢。）
三、時間狀語
一般現在時常與often，sometimes，always，usually等頻度副詞和every morning / day / week，on wednesday， on sundays，in the morning / afternoon / evening等時間狀語連用。
現在進行時常與now，these days，at this moment等時間狀語連用。句首有 look！ / listen！
等提示語時，後面的句子也要用現在進行時。如：
we often go shopping on sundays.
我們經常在星期天去買東西。
listen！someone is singing an english song in the classroom.
